The importance of exfoliation

We all know that exfoliation is an important part of our skin care routine, but do we know why?  Although the primary goal of exfoliation is to remove dead dry surface cells,  there are other benefits which make this process an important one, especially in regards to regular waxing.

The more regularly we wax, the thinner our hairs become over time.  When done correctly, we remove the hair from the root, this causes the hair follicle to weaken over time.  Due to the weaker follicle, the hair has a harder time piercing through the skin especially when the skin is covered with dead cells on the surface.  This leads to the dreaded ingrown hair.  In order to keep these pesky ingrowns at bay,  regular exfoliation is crucial!

There are many types of exfoliants on the market today,  such as; scrubs, pastes, gloves & brushes.  While they all can remove surface cells, some do a better job than others.  While keeping your skin’s sensitivity in mind,  Kimika suggests using a gentle yet effective glove to gently buff away dead skin cells to reveal softer smoother skin & to prevent the formation of ingrown hairs.  Using the glove 1 to 2 times per week will prevent an accumulation of dead skin, thus eliminating the risk of ingrowns.  For those hard to reach areas, we have created the exfoliating back towel. You can get the full body treatment right in the comfort of your own home!

Exfoliation and waxing go hand in hand for best results.
